(COR) Program
Breaking into cybersecurity is challenging — especially for individuals who have completed degrees or earned certifications but still struggle to land their first role due to a lack of practical experience. This disconnect between education and real-world application is one of the most common barriers to entry for aspiring cybersecurity professionals.
Our Cyber Operations Readiness(COR) program was designed to bridge that gap.

While certifications and academic credentials are valuable, hiring managers often look for candidates who can demonstrate familiarity with the tools, environments, and workflows used in modern security operations. NICO was founded to let students build that practical foundation in a structured, educational setting that is built like a modern enterprise environment.
-
Through guided, hands-on training, students work within simulated enterprise-style cloud environments and gain exposure to widely used industry platforms and technologies. Rather than learning tools in isolation, students progress through phases with scenarios that reflect how real organizations build, manage, and secure their systems — providing critical operational insight into how cybersecurity functions in practice.
-
Programs are intentionally structured to help students move from foundational IT concepts into system and cloud administration, and ultimately into security operations and monitoring activities. This progression helps students understand not only how tools are used, but why they are used, and how all the systems fit together – which we believe is an essential component of effective cybersecurity work.
The program is structured as one cohesive, 100% online program composed of three sequential phases. Students enroll, then progress through all phases in order. Each phase is designed to build on the previous one, teaching foundational technical skills while gradually increasing the complexity of systems, tooling, and decision-making.
The program is intentionally hands-on in a simulated cloud enterprise environment. Students spend the majority of their time working in live environments, completing tasks that mirror real IT and security roles. Certifications (Security+ & CySA+) are used as supporting frameworks, not as the core of instruction.
